Subordinating Words

A Subortinating Word (often called a "subordinate conjunction") is one that turns an Independent Clause into a Dependent Clause:
IC – Many consider Machiavelli a pessimist. (complete thought)
DC – Since many consider Machiavelli a pessimist (incomplete thought)
Fix – Since many consider Machiavelli a pessimist, he is often spoken of
with disdain. (incomplete thought followed by a complete thought)
